Escape Surfboards was founded by Bill Attlee in Rock, North Cornwall, about 5 minutes from Polzeath beach in 1997.  After moving back from 5 years living and making surf and sailboards in Brittany France.  Before that Bill was one of the main instigators of Lightwave Sailboards which during the 1980’s was one of the most progressive sailboard and surfboard manufacturers; where they developed new techniques in board construction using predominantly epoxy resins.  Innovators of the time developing not just standard ‘contact’ lamination but vacuum and infusion systems.

Now Bill continues to use his vast experience in making the very best surfboards.  Bill hand shaped over 15000 boards before moving on to using AKU cad board design systems.  Simply put that means that he has the knowledge and skills to combine the modern digital with the feel process.   Shaping beautiful boards is as much about the feel and balance of the board as it is about length widths and volumes.   A well-designed and good-looking board usually performs better.  

The offer is our ranges of boards which are designs developed over many years, refined and perfected.  Models like the Wasp, Peanut, Flying Carpet and many more; styles which suit many surfers.  We have taken these models into the Maluku range and given each their own separate icon and livery to keep the cost down they come in standard sizes.  If you wand the sizes or colour scheme adapted to your taste then we can of course do that for you.

Then there are the custom boards, where you get to have a chance to own a board designed exactly to your direct surfing needs and experience.   In colours of your choice, your name on the board, maybe your own logo or a design you have which can be printed and laminated under the glass.

We make and repair surfboards with either Polyester or Epoxy laminate on Polyurethane or EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) foam cores.  We love it when love it so we always strive to make the very best board for you we can.
