The Allegro design is the result of collaboration between Bill Attlee and team rider Harry Hilder. Looking for a board that compliments the Stepper design mainly to use when the waves are bigger and maybe there is more chop and bump on the wave face.
We started with the Waltz as the basis of this board and made several subtle modifications. We left the outline pretty much untouched but added a little bit more width in the nose Moved the single concave further down the board towards the tail. Enhanced the rolled ‘V’ in the tail, and added more tail kick to the rocker. Thinned out the rails particularly in the tail. We kept the square tail shape.
Think classic longboard; slight rolled ‘V’ bottom contours, smooth entry rocker, and medium high tail lift to give you dynamic turns and stalls for your nose rides, where the single nose concave will hold you up there just a little longer. The refined 50:50 mid rails give you hold and edge control where the super fine rails in the tail give grip and bite. The square tail specifically keeps the rails as straight as possible whilst maximizing the surface area in the tail for easy planning, take off and glide.
Harry weighs around 85 kgs and surfs this board in waves above waist high in competition and saves his 9’6 Stepper model for smaller or slacker wave faces. Harry understands the importance of the correct fin and choose a 10” Dog House (Rainbow Fin Company) fin for this board mixed with his 9 ½” Nose Rider fin for best elevation, control and maneuverability.
